Research released by the Brazilian Association of Construction Materials (ABRAMAT) has indicated that the number of companies intending to invest in expansion over the next 12 months has decreased to 69 percent, compared to 75 percent in the same period last year.

According to the president of the organisation in an interview with PINI Web Magazine: ´exists a concern amongst companies that the actions being undertaken by the government are focused on controlling inflation amongst a new period of international crisis’.  In July 2011, 50 percent of companies surveyed believed that the government´s intentions for the construction sector were positive – a figure that dropped to 38 percent in August.

Other statistics of interest showed that 83 percent see sector improvements in September; 69 percent are positive about their own organisation´s performance and 12 percent stated that financial results for July were low or very low.
