One of Brazil’s leading property development companies – Gafisa – has been streamlining and restructuring its system of processes in line with what is estimated will be a continued strong demand for housing (the company is expecting a 20 percent growth rate in sales when compared to 2010).

The proposals were brought in light of an examination of the difficulties confronted on building sites across Brazil and are divided into three broad areas:

(i)            Foundation, structural, installation and finishing specialists during the course of the development will be allocated – giving technical support to engineers and site management teams;

(ii)          In light of the issue of material stock control which often moves out of line with reality, improved warehouse controls will be instilled into operations combined with an intensification of consumption and logistics monitoring;

(iii)         Overall improved controls in the area of planning will be incorporated – particularly around issues of planning and management.
