Research undertaken by the Economatica consultancy agency revealed that Brazilian construction companies were leading the pack in terms of 2010 profits received in Latin and North America.  With seven companies in the top ten, the reasoning has been attributed to the strong growth witnessed from the second half of 2009 until the close of 2010 – in sharp contrast with the USA whose activity levels slowed down considerably during this period.

PDG Realty achieved the most gains in 2010 with a liquid profit of US$ 473.9 million (with a company value of US$ 6.677 billion), followed by Walter Ind. with US$ 385.8 million (valued at US$ 7.48 billion).  After these, Brazilian companies took positions 3 to 7 (MRV, Cyrela, Gafisa, Brookfield and Rossi) with US company NVR in 8th place, Mexican company Urbi in 9th place followed by another Brazilian developer Even in 10th place.
